Trisha Kirkbride

Principal Trisha Kirkbride grew up in Carlsbad, a sleepy, beach town outside of San Diego, California. Her senior year, she came to Sugarhouse to visit her grandma and never left Utah. After graduating from high school, she went on to become a licensed Cosmetologist/Barber, working in a salon until she was old enough to apply for the Law Enforcement Academy through Utah Peace Officer Standards and Training. She was hired by the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office where she quickly rose through the ranks – being promoted to sergeant and later lieutenant. During her career, she was assigned to a variety of positions – her favorites included being an Internal Affairs Investigator, Watch Commander and the Movement Critical Incident Response Team lieutenant. She earned an Associate of Science degree in Criminal Justice, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech and Organizational Communication with an English minor from the University of Utah, and a Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary English Language Arts with an emphasis in English Language Leaner instruction from the University of Southern California – “Fight on!”

The things Principal Kirkbride values most are her Catholic faith, family, friendships, and education. She lives in Stansbury Park with her nine-year-old son, Q, who has attended Catholic School since preschool. She is a self-professed English nerd who enjoys reading – mostly academic and religious texts, an English teacher, yoga instructor, hiker, scuba diver, and surfer. Principal Kirkbride, also known as Ms. K by the students, knows she has been called by God to this special ministry and feels grateful every day to be a part of this loving community.
